Early Life and Education
Eucken was born in Aurich, Germany on January 5, 1846.
He studied philosophy at the Universities of Göttingen and Berlin, where he was influenced by the teachings of Rudolf Hermann Lotze and Friedrich Adolf Trendelenburg.
Academic Career
In 1871, Eucken began teaching philosophy at the University of Basel.
In 1874, he moved to the University of
